The Tourer series designed by Black Widow offers travellers an alternate style of storage solution where storage capacity is not needed to be maximised and where a lower fridge slide dynamic is preferable or needed.

Don't get us wrong, the Tourer system packs plenty of storage punch. An effective guide would be 15% total vehicle capacity less with a double drawer stack tourer, than a standard twin drawer system. If you are towing a camper or a Caravan this would not be an issue as other storage options are available. Percentages only count when you are living out of your vehicle only.

The Tourer system really comes into its own when you have a large fridge. Lets say you have an 80 litre fridge or larger and you have a standard Land cruiser, Patrol or similar wagon. The fridge needs to be on the deck. It is just too big to put up on a twin set of drawers. For starters at that height there isn't the physical room for the fridge. When you combine a cargo barrier and then perhaps wish to include a top shelf, it just doesn't work. It will only fit down low.

When deciding on a fridge, see our fridge and vehicle guide, consider how you want to carry it, what else you need to take with you, how often you want to access your fridge and what storage options are available. You must also consider your vehicles layout. Does it have barn doors, a drop tailgate and etc? These factors will also contribute to storage systems and fridge selection. Where is the fridge power plug? Left or right? Do you need to have a plug installed.

Many people buy a fridge first and then come to us and say, "Do you have a storage solution to suit our fridge?"

A good fridge and a storage system purchase are not a small investment. Do some calculations before you buy either and have a good think about what you need. If in doubt, give us a call and we would be glad to help.

Remember if it's bigger than 60 litres it's down low and if it's smaller it can go up high in most cases. Do not underestimate the importance of the extra drawer as per the twin drawer system. The inconvenience of a higher fridge does not equate out when you compare it to the usefulness of the extra drawer. Food for thought.
